Kathamba Sambar- கதம்ப சாம்பார்
When including atleast 5 vegetablea in daily meal is mandatory this recipe is a saviour for anyone. Mix with rice and have as Bisibela bath or use it as side dish. It is absolutely delicious.
Ingredients:
- Thoor dhal - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
- Tomatoes- 2
- Onion - 1
- Sambar powder - 2 tsp
- Salt- pet taste
- Vegetables of your choice - 2 cups chopped
- Tamarind- gooseberry size extracted juice
- Coriander - 1 handful chopped
- Wonderberry - 1/4 cup
- mustard seed - 1 tsp
- oil- 1 tsp
- curry leaves - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1tsp
- Ghee- 2 tsp
Recipe:
- In a pan, add ghee and fry wonderberries until crispy. Keep aside
- In a pressure cooker, add dhal + water+ chopped onions+tomatoes
- In a bowl that could fit in cooker, add all vegetables
- Pressure cook for 4 whistles and switch off
- In a pan, splutter mustard seeds add curry leave
- Add dhall mixture
- Add tamarind paste + tumeric
- Boil for 3 minutes on high
- Add all the vegetables ( except wonderberry)
- Add sambar powder
- Allow it to boil for 5 minutes until nice aroma comes
- Add coriander
- Switch off
- Add Wonderberries
