Mix veg sambar/ கதம்ப சாம்பார்


Kathamba Sambar- கதம்ப சாம்பார் 


When including atleast 5 vegetablea in daily meal is mandatory this recipe is a saviour for anyone. Mix with rice and have as Bisibela bath or use it as side dish. It is absolutely delicious.


Ingredients:

  1. Thoor dhal - 1 cup
  2. Water - 2 cups
  3. Tomatoes- 2
  4. Onion - 1
  5. Sambar powder - 2 tsp
  6. Salt- pet taste
  7. Vegetables of your choice - 2 cups chopped
  8. Tamarind- gooseberry size extracted juice
  9. Coriander - 1 handful chopped
  10. Wonderberry - 1/4 cup
  11. mustard seed - 1 tsp
  12. oil- 1 tsp
  13. curry leaves - 1 tsp
  14. Turmeric powder - 1tsp
  15. Ghee- 2 tsp

Recipe:

  • In a pan, add ghee and fry wonderberries until crispy. Keep aside
  • In a pressure cooker, add dhal + water+ chopped onions+tomatoes
  • In a bowl that could fit in cooker, add all vegetables
  • Pressure cook for 4 whistles and switch off
  • In a pan, splutter mustard seeds add curry leave
  • Add dhall mixture
  • Add tamarind paste + tumeric
  • Boil for 3 minutes on high
  • Add all the vegetables ( except wonderberry)
  • Add sambar powder
  • Allow it to boil for 5 minutes until nice aroma comes
  • Add coriander
  • Switch off
  •  Add Wonderberries
