Gooseberry Rice



Ingredients:

  1. Gooseberry - 3 
  2. Red chilly - 2
  3. urad dhal -1 tsp
  4. Peanuts - 2 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  6. Turmeric  -1/4 tsp
  7. Salt - taste
  8. Oil - fry
  9. Cooked rice - 2 cups
  10. Curry leaves - few

Pre-preparations

Grate gooseberry leaving the seeds
Cook rice and allow to cool

Method:

  • In a pan, add oil and splutter mustard seeds
  • Add dhals, chillies, peanuts and curry leaves
  • Add gooseberries
  • fry for a min
  • Add turmeric
  • Add salt
  • Fry for one more min and switch off
  • Add rice to the mix and serve hot

This tastes similar to lemon rice but very healthy. I had to cheat telling its lemon rice to make my dd try this. Now she loves this taste :)
