Gongura/ pulichakeerai/ Punde soppu


Reduces body heat/ Increases appetite

Ingredients: 

  1. Gongura/ Pulichakeerai leaves - 1 bunch
  2. Red chillies- 5
  3. Hing - little
  4. Oil - to fry
  5. Fenugreek seeds- 2 tsp
  6. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  7. Salt - per taste
Step 1: Grinding leaves
  • Wash leaves thoroughly
  • In a pan, add little oil
  • Add leaves and saute
  • The leaves becomes 1/4 of the portion
  • Switch off and grind to paste

Step 2 : Masala to grind for the thogayal

  • Add oil in pan, Add fenugreek seeds and red chillies
  • Fry until seeds turn little brown
  • Add hing
  • Add salt
  • Allow to cool and grind
Step 3 : Making thogayal/Chutney
  • Splutter mustard seeds
  • Add leaves paste  and masala powder
  • Mix well
  • Fry until nice aroma 

This thogayal can be stored for a month. You can mix it with rice whenever required and eat. 

This is very useful to reduce body heat and increase apetite.
