Pongal/ Ven pongal

ven pongal

Ingredients:


  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Moong dhall - 1/4 cup
  3. Jeera - 4 tsp
  4. Pepper - 4 tsp( grinded so kids don't ignore them)
  5. Ghee - 6 tsp
  6. Cashews - 1/4 cup
  7. Curry leaves few
  8. Water- 3 cups
  9. Salt to taste


Method:

In a fry pan:

  • Add ghee 2 tsp
  • Add jeera and curry leaves
  • Switch off when they splutter


In cooker:

  • In a pressure cooker add raw rice+ moong dhal+ 3 cups water.
  • Add salt
  • Add fried jeera, curry leaves
  • Add grind pepper
  • Pressure cook for 3 whistles

Again in fry pan:

  • Add ghee tap and fry cashew until golden color
  • Mash the rice, an dhal 
  • Add remaining ghee and cashews
  • Serve when hot
