Pulikaichal paste for tamarind rice
Ingredients:
- Tamarind - 1 apple size ( soaked in water and juice extracted)
- Sesame oil - 1 cup
- Peanuts- 1/2 cup
- BEngal gram dhal - 2 tbsp
- Urad dhal - 2 tbsp
- Red chillies - 15
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Hing- little
- Salt- per taste
- Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
- Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
Method:
- In a pan, splutter mustard seeds in oil
- Add curry leaves, leaves, dhals and peanut
- When dhal turns golden brown, add tamarind water
- Boil until the tamarind water becomes like a paste
- Add salt and turmeric
- Add hing
- Allow to cool and store in air tight container
- If you are storing in fridge, keep required quantity outside atleast 20 mins before mixing
