Pulikaichal paste for tamarind rice


Ingredients:

  1. Tamarind - 1 apple size ( soaked in water and juice extracted)
  2. Sesame oil - 1 cup
  3. Peanuts- 1/2 cup
  4. BEngal gram dhal - 2 tbsp
  5. Urad dhal - 2 tbsp
  6. Red chillies - 15
  7. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  8. Hing- little
  9. Salt- per taste
  10. Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
  11. Mustard seeds - 2 tsp

Method:

  • In a pan, splutter mustard seeds in oil
  • Add curry leaves, leaves, dhals and peanut
  • When dhal turns golden brown, add tamarind water
  • Boil until the tamarind water becomes like a paste
  • Add salt and turmeric
  • Add hing
  • Allow to cool and store in air tight container
  • If you are storing in fridge, keep required quantity outside atleast 20 mins before mixing
