Sweet Pongal

Sweet pongal

Ingredients:

  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Moong dhal - 1/2 cup
  3. Jaggery - 3/4 cup
  4. Raisins - 1/4 cup
  5. Cashews - 1/4 cup
  6. Ghee - 1/4 cup
  7. Milk - 1/4 cup
  8. Cardamom - few crushed

Pre- preparations

  • In a smaller pan add ghee
  • Add cashews, cardamom and raisins. Fry until golden brown.

Method:

  • In a pressure cooker, add rice and dhal
  • Add 3.5 cup water
  • Pressure cooker for 4 whistle and then mash it smooth
  • In a pan, add jaggery and 1 cup water allow it to desolate and boil for 5 mins
  • Add the boiled dhal and rice mix to jaggery
  • Keep stirring
  • Add milk
  • Add cashews and raisins along with ghee
  • Serve when hot
Note:
Milk gives a flavor to the sweet pongal and makes it silky soft.
