Chutney Varieties



Chutney is a side dish part of daily routine for breakfast/dinner. Thinking what chutney to make is another big task :) Here are the list of chutneys with all possible combinations.

1. Raw Mango mint chutney 

Ingredients:

  1. Raw Mango slices - 1 cup
  2. Mint - 1/2 cup
  3. ginger - one or two small piece
  4. Salt - per taste
  5. Green chillies- 3
  6. Oil - to temper
  7. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method:

  • Grind mango, ginger, mint and chillies with little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves

2. Raw Mint chutney 

Ingredients:

  1. Mint - 1 cup
  2. Salt - per taste
  3. Green chillies- 2
  4. Oil - to temper
  5. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chillies - 1 

Method:

  • Grind mint and chillies with little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies

3. Mint chutney without coconut

This chutney can be stored in air tight container for a week

Ingredients:

  1. Mint - 1 cup
  2. Tomato - 1
  3. Salt - per taste
  4. Green chillies- 2
  5. Oil - to temper
  6. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method:

  • Fry mint, chillies and tomato until the raw smell goes 
  • Grind with little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves 

4. Mint chutney with coconut

Ingredients:

  1. Mint - 1 cup
  2. Tomato - 1
  3. Coconut - 1/4 cup
  4. Salt - per taste
  5. Green chillies- 4
  6. Oil - to temper
  7. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

Method:

  • Fry mint, chillies and tomato until the raw smell goes 
  • Allow to cool
  • Grind with coconut and little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves 

5. Coriander chutney 

Ingredients:

  1. Coriander - 1 cup
  2. Salt - per taste
  3. Green chillies- 3
  4. Oil - to temper
  5. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chillies - 1 
  7. Curry leaves - few

Method:

  • Grind coriander and chillies with little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies

6. Peanut chutney

Ingredients:

  1. Peanut - 1 cup
  2. Salt - per taste
  3. red chillies- 3
  4. Oil - to temper
  5. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Curry leaves - few

Method:

  • Fry peanuts until it turns crispy ( fry without oil)
  • Grind with little water and red chillies
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves 

7. Peanut chutney with garlic

Ingredients:

  1. Peanut - 1 cup
  2. garlic - 2 cloves
  3. Salt - per taste
  4. red chillies- 3
  5. Oil - to temper
  6. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  7. Curry leaves - few

Method:

  • Fry peanuts until it turns crispy ( fry without oil)
  • Grind with little water, garlic and red chillies
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves 

8. Plain Coconut Chutney

Plain coconut chutney has a mild sweet taste to it. 

Ingredients:

  1. Coconut desiccated - half cup
  2. Salt - per taste
  3. Green chillies- 2
  4. Oil - to temper
  5. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chillies - 1 
  7. Curry leaves - few

Method:

  • Grind coconut and chillies with little water
  • Add salt
  • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds,  red chillies and curry leaves

9. Coriander coconut chutney 

This chutney is our all time favorite chutney.. it tastes so yummy

Ingredients:

  1. Coconut desiccated - half cup
  2. Fried gram - 1/4 cup
  3. Coriander - 1 cup
  4. Salt - per taste
  5. Green chillies- 3
  6. Oil - to temper
  7. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  8. Red chillies - 1 
  9. Curry leaves- few

    Method:

    • Grind coconut, coriander dhal and chillies with little water
    • Add salt
    • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies

    10. Coconut chutney with fried gram

    Ingredients:

    1. Coconut desiccated - half cup
    2. Fried gram - 1/4 cup
    3. Salt - per taste
    4. Green chillies- 2
    5. Oil - to temper
    6. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
    7. Red chillies - 1 
    8. Curry leaves

      Method:

      • Grind coconut, dhal and chillies with little water
      • Add salt
      • Temper with spluttered mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chillies
