When there are left over idlies, an easy tasty recipe is upma.
Ingredients:
Idly -2
Onions - 1
Urad dhal - 1 tsp
Bengal gram - 1 tsp
Red chilly - 1
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Salt- Only for onion
Oil - to fry
Curry leaves- few
Idly chilli powder - 2 tsp
Method
- Scrumble the idlies and keep ready
- In a pan, add oil once heated add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- Once mustard splutters, add urad, bengal gram, red chilly and fry
- Add onions once dhal turns a little brown and add salt
- Add turmeric once onion turns pale
- Once raw smell turns goes away from turmeric
- Add Idly chilli powder
- Switch off
- Serve hot
